Elisa (Lisa) A. Crouse, MD

Senior Vice President, Institutional and Program Accreditation

Dr. Crouse joined the ACGME staff in 2024 as the Executive Director of the Institutional Review Committee (IRC) and transitioned to her current role in April 2025. She previously served on the faculty at the University of Oklahoma (OU) College of Medicine’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as the Warren M. Crosby Chair in Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology and residency program director (1998-2015). During this time, she also held positions as division director for General Obstetrics and Gynecology and medical director of OU Physicians Women’s Health. In 2015, Dr. Crouse was appointed as the associate dean for Graduate Medical Education and designated institutional official; she served in this capacity until her retirement from academic medicine in 2024.

Dr. Crouse has held positions with national and state organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Oklahoma County Medical Society. She served as a member and Region IV Chair of the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology and was previously a member and vice chair of the IRC. In addition, she has been fortunate to serve as the medical director of the Oklahoma Mothers’ Milk Bank and as a primate reproductive health consultant for the Oklahoma City Zoo.

Dr. Crouse received her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, where she also completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Following her residency, she served in the US Air Force at Whiteman Air Force Base, attaining the rank of Major (LtCol Select). While there, she held positions as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Commander of the Maternal/Child Flight, Chief of the Surgery Disaster Team, Interim Chief of Hospital Services, and Interim Squadron Commander. She received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Serve.

In her spare time, Dr. Crouse continues to learn from her four rescue dogs by participating in agility, rally, scent, and trick training and competition.
